Graphite drawing on paper with mixed media frame (tights, leaves, acorns, snail shells). Automatic exploration of interconnectivity.
The drawing was exhibited at the group show “Prop Room” in “Safehouse 2”, London.
The piece was part of “Remembering the Garden” installation by the artist duo “Hora” (ioana Mincu & Mara Verhoogt) alongside a candle burning ritual and a sculpture by Mara Verhoogt. The candle is made in close symbiosis with Mara Verhoogt, giving shape to hybrid vegetal and magical creatures.
The show functioned as an abandoned theatre prop room, showcasing a shadow puppet performance on the private view.
Exhibition text: “You've entered the prop room of an abandoned theatre. Filled with objects once-loved, these rooms are weightier than you know. Each piece is haunted with the story it never finished telling, but our convergence with them here sparks a new one. In stepping behind the curtain we visit with the spectres and soothes their loneliness by speculating on their histories, hoping one day someone will do the same for us.
In a space that exists more set than exhibition, we encounter the works of various artists whose practices are tethered together by a recurring eeriness. The nature of this exhibition is theatrical, and by involving complete works here, we bring them into collaboration with the curation to create an exhibition that is part performance. We invite the audience to partake in this collaboration, and bring the prop room to life with their presence.” ✒
